Fishing report 23rd December, 2007

Hello everyone,

Well not long now for the big day. May we wish everyone a really happy Christmas and a terrific New Year. The Harnick family have successfully taken over the fisheries and tell us they are really enjoying the experience. They have decided that they will open at Christmas Day at 7.00am for those who want to fish on Christmas Day. The office will be closed but Maureen and Tracey (the two ladies in the family set up) will be providing a glass of sherry and a mince pie. Here is the fishing report.

Fly Lake
Another wonderful week. Here are the averages.
Monday 1.3
Tuesday 13.0
Wednesday 6.6
Thursday 4.8
Friday 9.5
Saturday 3.0

Some of our anglers had a great time for example: J. Hogg from Great Harwood caught 20 trout on a half day ticket using zonkers. B. Buckley from Blackpookl caught 12 trout on a 6 hour ticket using black fever. D. Bramley from Accrington caught 14 trout on a 4 hour ticket using appetizers white. W. Rimmer from Sabden caught 13 trout on a 3 hour ticket. Mr. Steele from Wigan caught 10 trout using fritz on a 3 hour ticket.

Rachael Harnick (the daughter of one of the owners) had her first lesson from her dad and grandad this week. Rachel is 9 years old. She amazed us all by having a wonderful action. Not bad for a 9 year old. One angler who was watching said she looked like a natural. I am delighted to report that Rachel caught her first fish which weighed in at 1lb 8oz.

Coarse Fishing
Coarse fishing has been hard and slow this week. No carp have been reported as caught and pleasure men have only reported small bags of fish. As you may know we have had a lot of low temperatures this week and some very frosty starts to the day. Dave Harnick junior did speak to an angler on peg 20 this week who caught a nice 4lb perch this week - so its not all bad.

In the next few weeks I will be handing over the emails to one of the Harnick family. Philip and I are still going to be about for a few more weeks so that we can be at hand to support the Harnicks during their take over.

So all it remains is for me to wish you all A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM all the team at the fisheries.

best wishes
