Fishing report for week ending 12th August, 2007
Hello everyone,
What a lovely week we have had weather wise. Quite a few people have asked how we put these reports together. As you know we try and encourage all our anglers to come back into the office and let us know how they have faired. Late on on Sunday afternoon Dawn gathers all the information for the week and telephones all the results to me by phone. We are totally reliant on the feedback given to us by our customers. When I get Dawns results I also gather all the information that is sent to me direct by email from anglers that have sent me their individual results. We have been doing this for six years now and its great to have a record of how the various lakes perform. Here is your fishing report for the week.
Fly Lake
Some really great results and catches this week. P. Marriall from New Longton caught 21 fish on bloodworm. J. Legg caught 12 fish on dry flys. B. Bramley from Accrington caught 4 fish on buzzer. One of his fish was a nice 10lb rainbow. B. Bird caught 12 fish on bloodworm. Black buzzer, eggs, bloodworm and dry flys have all worked well. Quite a few anglers have emailed me to say they have had some lovely big fish this week. Here are the averages for the week.
Monday 3.0
Tuesday 1.6
Wednesday 2.8
Thursday 1.6
Friday 3.3
Saturday 3.0
Sunday 3.4
Main Lake (Carp)
Fishing has been hard this week particularly for those carpers who have come for the larger specimens. The best results have come from pegs 24/25, 29/30, 71/72 and 87/88. Sam Atherton aged 12 caught a lovely 19lb mirror using corn. These are the carp that have been recorded as caught this week. 11lb common on maggot, 8lb grass, 10lb common, 12lb grass, 10lb common, 21lb mirror, 19lb mirror, 12lb common, 12lb common, 12lb common, 13lb mirror, 11lb common, 16lb commonb, 24lb common, and 10lb common. I have had quite a few emails this week from carpers who have seen lots of big carp this week. I feel sure that we are going to hear about another big fish being caught. I suspect the change in air pressure will help this.
Main Lake (Pleasure)
Some great catches recorded this week. Bob and Jack two of our regulars caught between them a 120 lb bag of bream. Lots of anglers have done very well this week with lots of anglers recording bags of 25lb to 40lb. Looking at the records it would appear that fish are coming out from all over the lake. Carl Dowling emailed me this week. He fished the main lake on Friday. Carl fished peg 27 on the feeder with maggot/pinkie and finished up with a nice 61lb bag of fish. Carl said he caught a nice 4lb 8oz bream. Danny Carruthers from Chorley fished with us on Tuesday. Danny said fishing was really difficult during the early part of the day, but after lunch he could not go wrong. Danny caught a nice 50lb bag of silvers.
Doughnut Lake (Pleasure)
Again lots of good bags being recorded. Pegs 103, 104 and 109 have yielded the best results with bags of 30lb plus. Adrian Welsh caught a nice 50lb bag of fish when he fished with us on Thursday. Corn and Maggot seem to have been the most successful. Quite a few anglers have caught some nice carp in their bags.
GENERAL
We are planning to extend our range of bait in the next few weeks. In order to do this we are having to sort out storage for the extension to our range. We will of course keep you posted. Ongoing work is underway to remove the weed from the lakes. We always try to do this with the minimum of disruption to our anglers.
Well folks thats all for now - hope to see you on the banks.
best wishes
