fishing report week ending 1.4.2007
Hello everyone,
Gosh its April already, doesn't the time fly. Its nice to see all the trees in bud and hear the birds sing again. This is my favourite time of the year every thing starts to come alive again. Here is the fishing report for last week.
Main Lake (pleasure)
The main lake has fully settled down down after we removed quite a lot of the reeds some four weeks ago. We are already starting to see new growth come through. Fish is excellent at the moment with lots of anglers reporting 50 to 60lb bags. Ryan (our member of staff who lives on site) had a cracking day and caught 100lb bag made up of bream, skimmers, ghost carp. Ryan also had a nice 8lb bream and a roach weighting 1.5lb. Ryan was fishing the feeder at 45 yards with ringers dark with ringers carp bag up mix with chopped worm and pinkies as hook bait.
Doughnut Lake (pleasure)
What a great time our anglers are having on this lake. Fish are coming out close to the margins on pole. Mike Navies had a great days fishing catching mostly carp, tench, skimmers and roach. Mikes' ended up with a nice 70lb bag of of fish using the pole with corn and meat as hook bait, whilst loose feeding corn and pellets. John Pritchard got a 50lb bag of mixed fish using pellet with micro pellet as loose feed. There have also been lots of 30 - 40lb bags recorded last week. Paste pellets, corn and meat have been very successful.
Main Lake (Carp)
There have been lots of carp showing on the top last week, and some of our bigger fish have started to show. Ryan was called out last week at 2.am to verify a nice 29lb 10oz common carp which was caught on a shrimp and fish meal boilie caught by John Harvey. David Walker, one of our regulars caught a nice 18lb common and a 8lb mirror. Carp fishing has been hard over the early months of this year as the weather has been so up and down. As the water warms up we are starting to see a little more action.
Fly Lake
Fly fishing has been a little up and down last week because of the weather conditions. Having said that there have been some very nice brownies and big rainbows caught. These have shown to black buzzer, bloodworm, and cats whisker on a varied retrieve. Here are the averages for last week.
