Fishing report week ending 13th May 2007
Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well. Sorry for the problems on this web site the last few weeks. Our servers have been down! We had some quite heavy downpoors last week. It certainly proved very different weather from the lovely sunshine we experienced in April. Having said that we still had lots of keen anglers come and pay us a visit.
Main Lake (pleasure)
Ryan one of our residents at the fisheries played a blinder in the week when he bagged 198lb of bream, skimmers, roach, perch and carp. Ryans set up was a 12 foot feed rod with a drennan grip mesh feeder and 8lb braid. His ground bait was 3/4 ringers dark, 3/4ringers bag up mix, 3/4 special G with caster pinkies and red maggot with a little liquid 365 mixed together. Ryan added chopped worm in the feedeer and put worm and red maggot on his hook. His hook length was 4lb with a B911. Quite a few other anglers did well also. Jack and his brother (two regulars) had a good 40lb plus bag each. Terry Parker also had a good day catching about a nice 30lb bag of silvers.
Doughnut Lake (pleasure)
This lake is fishing well at the moment. Quite a few anglers have reported good catches. There was an angling club match on Saturday. Thirty five members turned up to have some sport. The winner of the match, who fished from peg 102 caught a nice 40lb bag of fish. The best bag of the week went to Mr. Colin Peevse who caught a nice 80lb bag of fish using paste corn and pellet.
Main Lake (carp)
Quite a few carp have been caught this week. Quite a few of our serious carpers have paid us a visit. As you know from these reports there have been some fantastic catches verified and photographed already this season. However, the larger fish were in short supply this week and the biggest catch of the week was a mere 26lb mirror. Anglers tried a range of different baits to try and tempt the fish. The most successful pegs were 56/57, 71/72, 87/88 and 61/62. Tony Ashworth (who rarely fishes in the summer) tried his luck this week and caught 2 15lb commons. According to our catch returns the following carp were brought to the bank - 12lb common, 16lb mirror, 13lb grass. 14lb leather, 10lbn mirror, 10lb mirror, 11lb mirror, 10lb mirror, 12lb ghostie, 15lb common, 21lb common and 16lb common.
Fly Lake
The trout fishing has been very good for some anglers with just three flys working best, namely cats whisker, bloodworm, and hares ears. Quite a few anglers have reported catching more than 20 fish in each session. On Tuesday and Wednesday there were some high winds which made fly fishing impossible. Here are the averages for the week. Monday 3.6
Tuesday No anglers
Wednesday No anglers
Thursday 8.6
Friday 4.3
Saturday 2.5
Sunday 2.7
GENERAL
I had some problems trying to publish the fishing report on our web site last week. When I spoke to the chaps who host our web site they had experienced some severe problems. I will post last weeks fishing report and this report just as soon as the site is up and running again. Lastly, we have a nice picture of Ryans catch (198lb) and I will publish this also on the web site as soon as Ryan emails it across to me.
Best wishes for now folks.
