Fishing Report week ending 3rd June, 2007
Hello everyone,
Well the week started off with lots of rain and the temperatures dropping and then from Friday onwards it got a little warmer. Our banks have been really full because it was half term. Here is the fishing report for last week.
Main Lake (Carp)
Quite a quiet week for our standards with only 4 carp reported as being caught. The biggest carp out was a 28lb 5oz common. Other fish caught were 15lb grass carp caught on GLM pellet, 16lb mirror, and a 14lb common. I find it amazing just how much the weather can affect carp fishing. Some weeks I can report 30 plus fish caught and other weeks it goes very quiet - I guess thats fishing.
Main Lake (Pleasure)
Some excellent bags have been reported last week. Here are just a few of them. M. Spend 35lb, A.Mahoney 29lb, R. Smith 68lb, R. Dobson 20lb, J. Thornley 20lb and A Willoby 30lb. The biggest bag of the week fell to B Hollanday who fished peg 59 on tip using luncheon meat. It was an 80lb bag of fish and Mr. Hollanday said there were some lovely fish in excellent condition in his bag.
Doughnut Lake (Pleasure)
Fishing has been hard this week on the top lake. There have been one or two reasonable bags caught. J. Taylsorth fished peg 119 and caught a nice 25lb bag. A Lord fished peg 120 and caught a nice 35lb bag.
Fly Lake
CDC buzzers, poppers, black sedge, black nats and fritz are working well. A slow figure of of eight with a slow retrieve is doing well. Here are the averages.
Monday 2.4
Tuesday 2.5
Wednesday 2.5
Thursday 5.3
Friday 4.0
Saturday 4.8
Sunday 2.8
We are now stocking the fly lake twice a week so that fishing remains good all through the week. I was on duty on Saturday and some anglers were catching 30 fish.
GENERAL
We are trialling our first corporate session sometime in August. I will keep you posted. We are constantly being asked by local companies if we will hold corporate fly and coarse fishing sessions.
Well folks thats all for now.
best wishes
