Fishing report week ending 17th June, 2007

Hello everyone,

What a funny week weather wise. We have had heavy rain all week and then on Sunday afternoon the sun came out at about 2.00pm ish and it was boiling hot. We had a very exciting thing happen to us on Sunday we had a helicoper land at Pendle View. You can imagine it caused quite a stir. We took a phone call from the chap who owned the helicopter earlier in the week and he explained that he was travelling from the IOM for a days fishing with his son. What a compliment for us to have someone travel that sort of distance. I have attached a picture of the event with this email, along with an aerial picture which was taken by Philip as they were flying over Pendle View. To top the day off the owner of the helictopter actually took Philip and some of our staff for a ride. They were absolutely over the moon with this gesture and I am sure it will a memory that they will treasure for a long long time. Here is the fishing report for week ending 17th June, 2007.

Main Lake (Carp)
The carp have just finished spawning and it has been a great week to spot the carp on the top of the water in large numbers. Tnight as I was leaving Pendle the water was really calm and lots of our carp where coming to the top. Twenty three carp have been reported as being caught. I have listed them in descending order. 25lb mirror, 25lb mirror, 24lb 6oz common, 23lb mirror, 23lb mirror, 22lb mirror, 18lb common, 18lb ghostie, 18lb common, 17lb mirror, 16lb common, 17lb mirror, 15lb 2oz common, 14lb common, 16lb common, 16lb common, 14lb common, 12lb grass, 10lb common, 13lb common, 11lb common, 10lb common, 8lb common. The most successful pegs have been 87/88, and the dam wall. Stan from Blackpool caught 5 of the commons and said he had a wonderful session. Steven Schoullar from Huyton in Merseyside said he had three carp off the dam wall using an undisclosed boilie. His biggest fish was a nice 22lb mirror.

Main Lake (Pleasure)
Some great bags this week the biggest being a nice 70lb bag from Mike Pemberton who fished peg 90 using maggot and corn. Other bags worthy of note are 60lb bag caught by Rob Riley using maggot. John Griggs also had a nice 60lb using worm, and maggot. Most anglers had reasonable session and had bags of 25lb plus. Skimmers and Bream are showing really well at the moment.

Doughnut Lake (Pleasure)
Again some nice bags have been recorded on this lake. The biggest bag of the week goes to Frank Dawson who fished peg 108 using pole and caster. Dave Harper and Colin Rimmer fished pegs 102 and 103 using ledger and caught some nice ghosties, some small carp and about 8 roach. The lads said they had a great session I had a nice email from Pat Wood who fished the lake alone during the week (and the terrible downpours we have been having). Pat said he managed five hours during freezing temperatures but despite this had a great days sport catching some small carp, some tench and skimmers. Pat also had two very nice crucians which fell mainly to sweetcorn and some to pellet. Pat said it was wild conditions but all the same good fun. Thanks for feed back Pat and glad you enjoyed your session.

GENERAL
Matt Cudworth and Kyle Pearce fished on behalf of Pendle View at the Welsh Carp Masters and came second. Well done lads - a valiant effort.

Our application goes to planning commitee on Tuesday. If our application is allowed we will soon start work on our education facility. Our aim is to open up the sport to local schools during Monday to Friday. Fishing has already been recognised as a way of taking young people away from the classroom and showing them the joys of fishing. Educationalist are urging schools to find different ways of teaching young people the core skills of numeracy, literacy, communication and team building skills.

Well folks thats all my news for the week. I look forward to seeing you on the banks sometime.

best wishes

Lin at Pendle View
