Fishing report week ending 24th June, 2007

Hello everyone,

Flaming June......I don't think so. What weird weather we are having. Having said that our anglers are not complaining as you will see from this fishing report.

The Main Lake (Pleasure)
Lots of happy anglers this week with bags averaging from 20 to 40lb. A mixture of corn and maggot seem to have brought in the best results. I had a nice email from Derek Smythe of Bolton who fishes our lake at least once every week. He said he had a terrific day on Wednesday when he had a wonderful five hours on the main lake. Derek said it was a mixed day weather wise, with lovely sunshine sometimes and heavy downpours at times. He said he should have been decorating the hall, but had decided to have a day off instead. Derek said his bag weighed in at 38lb and was mostly roach, perch and skimmers. Andy Gaskell of Preston had a lovely 3lb 8oz perch on Sunday. The record for our lake is 4lb 5oz.

Doughnut Lake (Pleasure)
John Carruthers of Chorley went away with a big smile on Thursday. He emailed on Thursday night to say he had a great 87lb bag of fish. John said he fished pole using paste and maggot. There have been some really good bags recorded this week ranging from 20 to 87lb bags. The next biggest bag recorded was a 65lb bag from peg 101. Now the weather has warmed up quite a few of our anglers are opting to say overnight on the doughnut lake. There was a match played on Sunday. It rained on an off all day, but the club secretary said his chaps had a wonderful day and will be returning to Pendle View. Paul Taylor came first with a 16lb 8oz bag. Most of the team caught 15lb ish bags.

Main Lake (Carp)
A fab week for carp anglers, with over 35 plus fish being caught. The biggest carp caught was a nice 37lb 3oz common caught off the top on dog biscuit. As you walk around the lake you can see lots of the carp topping. The most successful bait at present seems to be homemade boilies or dog biscuit. The best pegs have been in the shallows and hatchery pegs. Here are the list of those catches which have been recorded. 31lb 15oz common, 14lb ghostie, 17lb mirror, 11lb common, 8lb common, 11lb 4oz mirror, 17lb common, 8lb common, 21lb mirror, 34lb 6oz common, 12lb 6oz common, 15lb common, 23lb 12oz common, 27lb mirror, 23lb common, 25lb common, 20lb mirror, 16lb mirror, 8lb mirrir, 8lb mirror, 33lb 3oz common, 7lb mirror, 12lb 3 oz common, 14lb mirror, 10lb common, 27lb common, 22lb 8oz mirror, 8lb mirror, 9lb common, 25lb 10oz common, 14lb 14oz common. Mark Richardson and Dave Rothwell had a great session with us during the week when Mark caught a nice 34lb 6oz common using a homemade boilie. Dave Rothwell also caught his personal best with the 33lb 3oz common. Pictures of the significant catches of the week are now displayed in the office. I have sent a picture of the angler and the fish that caught the 37lb 3oz carp.

GENERAL
Now that our application has been approved we will be starting work on the education facility. We have drawn up new guidelines on fishing lines for our carp anglers to avoid tangled lines. This will be explained when tickets are issued in the office. We have asked the opinion of quite a few carp anglers and they think the idea is great.

Well folks thats all for now. Can I thank all those anglers who have emailed me this week so say what a great time they have had fishing Pendle View. We have particularly had quite a few emails saying how tidy we keep the venue and some really nice compliments about the staff and the fishing experience at Pendle View. Thank you for that. I do of course pass on all of these comments to our staff.

best wishes everyone

Lin at Pendle View
