Fishing report week ending 15th July, 2007

Hello everyone,

Well thank goodness we are getting the odd dry day at last. According to the long term forecast it will get better towards the middle of the week. I have heard that the Royal Lancashire Show is cancelled this year due to the land being water logged. Despite some of the awful weather conditions we have had some good catches brought to the bank this week. Here is the fishing report.

Doughnut Lake (pleasure)
This lake is becoming very popular and we have had some great bags recorded this week. The biggest was a 108lb bag which was caught by an angler using pole and luncheon meat. The second biggest bag was a nice 80lb bag. Quite a few of the anglers who have fished have used luncheon meat and say it works well. Other bags recorded are 30lb, 35lb and several 20plus pound bags. Some really nice carp, tench and bream have shown this week. The biggest carp recorded was nice 7lb fish. I had a nice email from Alan Biggins from Blackburn who fished the lake for the first time last week, he said he had a great day and caught some lovely silvers.

Main Lake (pleasure)
Fishing has been really slow on the main lake because the water is still quite coloured from the awful flash floods we had the other week. It is just starting to clear and conditions should be better. The biggest bag we can see recorded was only a 42lb bag by Alan White of Nelson. Alan fishes the lake quite a lot and said he found it quite hard. Other bags recorded are 30lb, 28lb and lots of 20plus pound bags. Maggots also seem to have worked quite well.

Main Lake (carp)
Another terrific wqeek for carp with lots of catches brought to the bank. One angler, called Jim, who spent a week with us caught 12 carp. Jim fished peg 24 and said he had a great session. The biggest fish he caught was a nice 26lb mirror. His other fish averaged about 18lb ish. Jim used pineapple boilies with strawberry jam. Other anglers to do well last week were Gavin Lampitt, Steven Lathom and Chris Mountford. Here are the fish recorded as caught. 14lb common, 12lb common, 17lb 8oz common, 16lb 8oz common, 23lb common, 16lb 5oz common, 9lb common, 19lb mirror, 20lb mirror, 15lb leather, 14lb common, 10lb common, 12lb common, 19lb common, 16lb 5oz common, 16lb common, 11lb common, 4lb ghostie. Fish have been coming out all over. A lot of anglers have chosen not to declare their bait and we have to respect this.

Fly Lake
Another good week for our anglers on the fly lake. One of the anglers has sent me a CD with some of superb catches at Pendle View. I will publish them on the web site and in the next fishing report. The angler in question comes on a regular basis and just really enjoys to fish with us. Here are the averages for the week.

Wednesday 3.7
Thursday 5.9
Friday 7.2

Cats Whisker, bloodworm, and fritz have all done well this week.
