Fishing report week ending 22.7.2007
Hello everyone,
The weather still remains mixed with some very wet days and some really hot ones. I was speaking to John Hunter the editor of the Tackle and Guns magazine last Tuesday and he was saying that the weather has really has had an adverse effect on our trade this year. Because of the large volumes of rainfall some of the rivers are unfishable and some bait and tackle shops in the really badly affected areas have lost all their stock. We have been very lucky at Pendle View. Since we introduced our flood control measures a couple of years ago we seem to be able to cope with whatever the weather throws at us. According to the long term forecasts August would appear to be much better weather. Heres hoping. Here is the fishing report.
Fly Lake
Some fantastic catches recorded this week. Andy Farrow managed to catch 30 fish using a buzzer. Some high returns were recorded this week and some anglers confirmed that they had returned 14 - 20 fish back to the lake. Cats Whisker, Green Olives, Fritz, and bloodworm all seem to have worked well. Here are the averages.
Monday 3.4
Tuesday 3.9
Wednesday 4.8
Thursday 3.4
Friday 7.0
Saturday 3.7
Sunday 5.4
Main Lake (Carp)
Again a great week. Here are the fish that have been reported as caught. 16lb 8oz mirror, 9lb common, 31lb 6oz common,m 20lb common 18lb mirror, 15lb koi mirror, 16lb common, 21b 14oz mirror, 15lb mirror, 12lb mirror, 29lb 9oz mirror, 18lb common, 14lb 8oz common. John Tine, Tony Ashworth, Andy Gwynote seem to have had the best sessions. I had an email from Jimmy Steele who fished us early last week and caught nine carp during a 24 hour session. Dog biscuit on the surface seemed to work well last week, although by today the carp have gone lower in the water. John Tine caught the biggest fish this week with the 31lb 6oz common caught from peg 71/72.
Main Lake (Pleasure)
Some nice 30lb bags reported this week, but fishing has been hard. The biggest bag was recorded as a 75lb bag. Bream has shown particularly well this week. Other bags recorded are 32lb, 36lb, 42lb, and 60lb. Chris Holliday, Stephen Waiter had really good sessions with us.
Doughnut Lake (Pleasure)
Again this lake is fishing really well. The biggest bag was a nice 70lb bag which was caught by Andy Burnett during the later part of the week. Pat Wood also had a some good sport and recorded a nice 30lb bag of mostly carp. Chris Dowling had a cracking morning session with us and caught nice 48lb bag of fish.
Well folks thats the fishing report for the week. The school holidays are upon us and this is the time of the year when we have lots of young people come to fish our venue. As you know we really do encourage new anglers into the sport. Our staff will be at hand to ensure that all new learners are taught good practise etc and we always ensure that new learners treat our venue and its customers with the respect they deserve. We look forward to seeing you on our banks.
best wishes
