fishing report week ending 5th August, 2007
Hello everyone,
Well it was nice to see the sun again wasn't it. Our banks were very busy during the week and some anglers reported excellent results. Here is the fishing report for the week.
Main Lake (Carp)
I have to say that although there were some excellent results none of the very big carp have shown this week. R. Dobson of Manchester had a good session and landed a 17lb 12oz common and a 8lb 12oz mirror using a boilie. David Spencer caught a nice 14lb 15oz grass carp using corn. Norma Morgan caught a 10lb 6oz common and a 13lb 13oz mirror. Other carp reported as caught were as follows: 19lb common, 8lb 12oz common 17lb 11oz common, 8lb common, 7lb ghostie, 18lb 4oz mirror, and a 17lb mirror. The biggest fish reported as caught this week was a 24lb mirror.
Doughnut Lake (Pleasure)
Some excellent results this week with bags ranging from 5lb to 150lb. Here are just some of the bags reported this week. P. Cryer 38lb bag using Pole and pellet. Ron Bewley with a nice 25lb bag on float using maggot and spam. Barry Pearce had a cracking session and caught a nice 150lb bag using pellet. More and more of our anglers are saying how well this lake is fishing.
Main Lake (Pleasure)
Fishing has been a little slow on the main lake, although the dam wall has produced quite well with bags showing of up to 63lbs. Maggot and caster have worked quite well. I had a nice email from Carl Dowling who fished with us on the 3rd August. Carl said things were a little quiet at first and then they picked up later on in the session. Carl caught a nice 63lb bag of fish which were made up of bream, skimmers, roach and perch. Carl was using maggot/pinkie on feeder. He also said that he caught two nice bream weighing about 4lb each. Carl said that he has had some good bags and plans to return to crack the 70lb bag. Norman Par caught a nice 40lb bag and Liam Wood caught a nice 40lb bag using float and maggot.
Fly Lake
Again some excellent results reported with some big fish being caught. Here are some examples.
Joe Cooney from Darwen caught 23 fish on a 3 hr session. Paul Morrell from Longton caught 34 fish on a three hour session. Alan Bringle from Wilpshire caught 10 fish on a 4 hour ticket. Howard Marshall (we call him "H") and he has been fishing with us for six years now caught 23 fish. Amongst those fish he caught he landed a 9lb rainbow and a 7lb rainbow. Chris Latham caught 9 trout on a 4 hour ticket. Some excellent results. Here are the averages.
Monday 3.5
Tuesday 1.9
Wednesday 1.2
Thursday 3.4
Friday 6.0
Saturday 8.9
Sunday 5.2
Flys working well at the moment are black buzzer, bloodworm, lures and eggs.
I had a nice email from Liam Carter who caught 6 fish recently. Two rainbows ranged from 2 - 4lbs and he said he also caught a nice 2lb brownie.
GENERAL
I just love it when you send me emails letting me know how you got on during your session with us. It really helps me put this report together. Our reports go out to over 500 anglers and are linked to 11 web sites. We estimate that around 2,000 people pick up this report every week. So please carry on sending me your emails and filling in our catch report when you leave our banks .....it all helps.
Well folks thats all for now. Hope to see you on the banks soon.
best wishes
