fishing report week ending 2nd September, 2007
Hello everyone,
I am sorry this is a bit late this week. I have been away for a day or so. Well what do you make of this weather. It really is up and down at the moment. This morning we had a touch of ice on the pond and this afternoon it was baking hot. The weather sure has affected fishing. Some of our lakes have fished really hard. Here is the fishing report.
Main Lake (Carp)
Only 12 carp have been reported as caught this week. We have had some carp field testers on for a stint and they found our waters really challenging and hard. The following carp have been brough to the banks. 16lb common 16lb 8oz common, 13lb 4oz ghostie, 9lb 8oz common, 22lb mirror, 15lb common, 10lb mirror, 14lb 1oz common, 22lb mirror, 14lb 1oz common, 20lb 2oz mirror and a 15lb common. I have had quite a few carp anglers saying they plan to fish our waters in the winter as they know its when the bigger carp show. I am hoping that someone will land one of the 40lb plus carp.
Main Lake (pleasure)
Again quite mixed results. Some anglers have done really well with bags of up to 45lb whilst others have really struggled. I had a nice email from Carl Dowling (one of our regulars) who said he had a good days sport when he fished peg 27. Carl fished using feed and maggot and caught a nice 41lb bag of bream and skimmers.
Doughnut Lake (pleasure)
Fishing has been slow this week with smaller bags than usual caught. Most anglers have caught bags in excess of 20lb but have found conditions very hard. One angler emailed me to say that he had a great days sport on Wednesday and that he and his friend caught some lovely healthy looking fish.
Fly Lake
Fishing has been very good on this lake with quite a few anglers catching lots of fish. Steven Cooper caught 27 trout using Dawsons Olives. Bill Street of Great Harwood caught a lovely 7lb rainbow trout on buzzer. David Tennant caught 18 fine looking trout during his stint at Pendle View. David said it was well worth the trip from Bacup. Here are the averages for the week.
Monday 2.2
Tuesday 4.0
Wednesday 0.8
Thursday 5.2
Friday 4.2
Saturday 3.2
Sunday 2.4
Buzzers, bloodworm, fritz and dawsons olives have worked well.
GENERAL
We have resurfaced all the road up to the trout lake car park. We do try and do a little each year. It just helps keep the venue a little tidier looking. We have been asking all vehicles to dry slowing up the road whilst the road settles down.
Well folks that all for now - hope to see you on the banks sometime.
cheers
Lin from Pendle View
