Fishing report week ending 9th September, 2007

Hello everyone,

Here is the fishing report for the week.

Main Lake (Carp)
I am glad to report that after a two week spell the carp have got their heads down and are feeding again. David Coup caught a nice 35lb 30z common on peg 65 using monster crab. Other carp recorded as caught are as follows: 14lb 1oz common peg 71. 16lb 2oz common and 26lb 4 oz mirror on peg 71. Jim McNally caught a nice 23lb 12oz mirror on peg 72. I understand that Tony Ashworth one of our regulars has had a good spell this week and caught a 15lb, 12lb and 16lb common. Ted Dawson of Rochdale emailed this week and said he caught a nice 28lb common from the Dam wall.

Main Lake (Pleasure)
The biggest bag recorded this week was a 30lb bag. This bag was recorded against Jim Morgan from Accrington. Fishing has been hard this week although there have been numerous bags of 20lb recorded. Feeder and pellet have been the most successful methods and bait.

Doughnut Lake (Pleasure)
Fishing has been a little better than on the main lake with bags of up to 45lb recorded. Tim Hoyle had a great day on Tuesday. It was his first session with Pendle, but he emailed me to thank our staff for all their help during his recent visit. Tim said he caught a nice 28lb bag of mixed silvers using pole and maggot. There have been various bags recorded - here are just a few. 26lb bag, 38lb bag, 25lb bag, 39lb bag, 22lb bag. Pegs 101 and 98 have done particularly well this week.

Fly Lake
Some really good sessions have been recorded this week. Paul Mardell did exceptionally well when he caught 39 trout using bloodworm. Mick Black caught 7 fish on a 3 hour ticket. Ian Ballot from Barrow caught 12 fish on a 3 hour ticket. Ian caught on fritz. James Ballus caught 10 fish on a 4 hour ticket.

GENERAL
Sadly Tom Laurie has resigned his post bailiff. We are delighted to tell you that Tom has secured a place at Myerscough College. Tom has always wanted to pursue a career in fisheries management and applied to the college recently to see if he could enrol to take his Institute of Fisheries Management Diploma. Tom has just has been accepted onto the course. As you know Tom was completing a summer contract with Pendle View Fisheries. All the team at Pendle View wish him well.

Pendle View are working closely with Myerscough college and we working with the college so that we can offer real life work experience opportunities to students who wish to gain a recognised NVQ in horticulture and fisheries management.
