Fishing report week ending 16th September, 2007

Hello everyone,

What a wonderful Autumn we are having. I heard on the radio the other day that we may be in for an Indian summer. Well that will certainly make up for the awful summer. Here is the fishing report.

Fly Lake
Some great sport has been had. I have had quite a few nice emails from anglers who have caught some lovely specimens. Our lads have been working hard to take the Canadian weed out of the pond. (This grows quickly during the warmer weather). We try and do the weeding on the quieter days. Fritz, black and green lures and white fritz have been very successful. Here are the averages.
Monday 2.9
Tuesday 4.7
Wednesday 0.3
Thursday 1.9
Friday 5.4
Saturday 3.5
Sunday 1.5

Just a quick reminder that brown trout are out of season from the 30th September, 2007 until the 22nd March, 2008.

Main Lake (Pleasure)
Some nice catches have been recorded with the biggest bags ranging from 50 - 60lbs. Feeder and maggot has done particularly well. I have had several emails from anglers who have emailed to say what healthy fish we have in the lake. Bags have been made up of mixed silvers.

Doughnut Lake (Pleasure)
This lake has fished very slowly. There have been some small bags reported but nothing to write home about. Quite a turn around from the great catches we were reporting some weeks back.

Main Lake (Carp)
First thing in the morning the temperatures have been very low in the lake, rising during the day and then dropping back of a night. This has had quite an affect on our fishing. Having said that some of our anglers have managed to bring some nice carp to the banks. Here are the ones that have been recorded as caught. 14lb 8oz common, 8lb common, 22lb 12oz mirror, 15lb common, 18lb common, 19lb common, 13lb common, 15lb mirror, 13lb common, 16lb common, 10lb common, 13lb 8oz common, 18lb ghostie, 6lb grassie, 22lb leather, 13lb 7oz common. Tony Ashworth had a great session fishing the dam wall on dog biscuit and caught 6 decent sized fish averaging around the 16 to 18lb mark. Fruitie type boilies have done the best. I have had several emails from serious carp anglers asking if they can fish our waters duringt the winter months. They are also asking what results they can expect. I can only say that after recording the catches now for six years I can confirm that most of our bigger carp are caught during the winter months.

GENERAL
I did a charity run for breast cancer on Sunday. I would just like to say a big thank you to all those customers who sponsored me for the event. I should like to confirm that a total of £48.00 was raised. It was a great day and it was amazing just how many ladies of all ages made the effort and ran. There were over 4,000 runners in the event of all ages and sizes. I did the run with my sister who recovered from breast cancer recently. Thank you for your support.

best wishes and hope to see you on our banks soon.
