fishing report week ending 30th September, 2007

Hello everyone,

Well its the 1st October today - only 85 shopping days to Christmas (am I sad or what). Seriously the reason I mention it is that at this time of the year your loved ones are usually racking their brains trying to think what can I buy the man in my life. If they are struggling don't forget to mention our FISHING VOUCHERS. As you know they can be redeemed against anything that we sell or provide as a service. Can't blame me for trying can you. Anyway down to business here is the fishing report.

Main Lake (Carp)
Only 5 carp brought to the banks this week. From what we can gather the carp have gone onto natural food. Since we have had all the heavy rain and floods the silt has been churned up and the carp are feeding on the bloodworm. mussle and worm. As all you carpers know the carp need to fatten up and should soon be going into a feeding frenzy mood. Its been a really strange year weather wise. We had a boiling April and May and then lots of rain during the summer. The temperatures have been up and down all through August and September. If the carp don't start their feeding frenzy by the end of next month they will feed right through the winter. Carp caught this week have been as follows: 18lb common, 13lb mirror, 10lb mirror, 9lb 12oz ghostie, and 13lb mirror.

Main Lake (Pleasure)
Fishing has been a little better this week with some better results than last week. Declan (son of Dawn - the lady who looks after you at weekends) caught 48 fish from peg 24. There was a nice 20lb bag caught from peg 6. Average bags seem to have been around the 20 - 30lb this week and caster and maggot have been doing very well. There have also been some lovely perch caught this week up to 2lb 8oz.

Doughnut Lake (Pleasure)
We have to say that not many anglers have fished this lake but of the half dozen or so who have there have been average bags of 15 to 20 lb recorded. Bream and carp have shown well. Black tench have also shown this week. Maggot and pellet on float have been the most successful.

Fly Lake
Another great week with some excellent results. Don Bramley (sorry Don I have been referring to you as Dave for several weeks) caught 22 trout on white fritz. C. Holland caught 22 trout in two hours. R. Studdard caught 17 trout on blood worm, and S. Steer caught 19 on white fritz. Cats whisker, red buzzers, blood worm and white fritz have all done well. Here are the averages for the week.
Monday 2.1
Tuesday 2.1
Wednesday 6.5
Thursday 5.2
Friday 8.7
Saturday 4.4
Sunday 1.7

Well folks thats its for this week. Hope to see you on the banks.
