Fishing report week ending 7th October, 2007
Hello everyone,
I expect that quite a few of now know that Philip and I are retiring from Pendle View Fisheries and that we are passing the business into the very safe hands of a family called the Harnicks. In fact the Harnick family spent all day yesterday at the fisheries introducing themselves to their customers. We expect that the hand over will take place early November. We should like to reinforce the fact that the family intend to enhance the venue even more. Since we annouced the news Philip and I have received lots of emails wishing us well in our retirement. Thank you for that.
Here is the fishing report for last week.
Fly Lake
Monday 4.3
Tuesday 2.9
Wednesday 2.4
Thursday 4.0
Friday 4.7
Saturday 5.5
Sunday 4.5
The old fly lake is still producing well. J. Fowler of Clitheroe caught 20 fish on a 6 hr session using buzzers. G. Jaws of Preston caught 14 trout on a 3 hour ticket using Cats. A Glynn of St. Helens caught 19 trout on a 6 hour ticket using Cats. R. Stutard of Blackburn caught 15 trout on a 6 hour ticket using bloodworm. Lee Mconkie from Oldham caught 20 trout on a 8 hour session using fritz. Eggs working are buzzer, fritz, daddys, egg and bloodworm.
Doughnut Lake (Pleasure)
There were quite a few pleasure men on this lake over the weekend and I did bop up and say hello to a few of them. Some had caught some nice 20lb bags of mixed fish (bream, skimmers and carp). Pellet and pole seemed to be working well. I had a nice email from Roy Scott from Formby who fished the lake in the week. He said he fished from early morning till about three and had a terrific session. Roy said it was quiet in the morning, but in the afternoon he had some good results. Roy fished peg 101 and estimated he caught a 25lb bag of fish.
Main Lake (Pleasure)
Some nice perch have shown this week on the Main lake. I have had to emails saying that a 2lb and 2.8oz perch were caught earlier in the week. Roach and perch have shown well all week according to the feedback we are getting. Having said that are records show that bags have been a little disappointing weight wise, and have averaged around the 15 - 18lb only. I had a very cheerful email from Barry Taylor of Blackburn who fished the main lake on Tuesday. Barry said that he had a days holiday left and decided (as the weather was quite nice) to come fishing. He said he had a really peaceful and relaxing day. Barry said the lake looked stunning and he really helped him chill out. He said the added bonus was the 17lb bag of fish he caught.
Main Lake (Carp)
Biggest fish out this week was a 22lb common, although my bailiffs tell me that lots of anglers have said they have had some great runs this week, but not brought the fish to the bank. I was in fisheries on Saturday and Sunday this week and I spent quite a bit of time talking to carpers. Some were saying that they could see carp sun bathing and topping all over the water. Other carp brought to the bank were 12lb 8oz common, 16lb common, and 17lb 8oz common. On Sunday night Mark (one of our regulars) caught a 23lb common, 16lb common and a 14lb common.
Well folks thats all for now - hope to see you on the banks.
