Fishing report week ending 4th November, 2007

Hello everyone,

Again I have to say what a lovely start to November weatherwise. Some of the trees are stunning with their lovely Autumn colours.

Well as you have probably gathered the sale of the fisheries has not been completed as yet. The legal process is taking a little longer that we had anticipated although we can say that we are hopeful of having a date announced very soon. Dave Harnick Senior and Dave Harnick Junior have been visiting the fisheries on a regular basis and have been busy introducing themselves to anglers on our banks. I have to say that they have some wonderful ideas which I am sure they will share with you once they take over. Philip and I are so encouraged by their enthusiasm for the place and we really look forward to coming back to the place to see their various ideas in place. Dave Harnick has a real eye for nature and we Philip and I think that the venue will benefit from this skill set. Anyway folks here is the fishing report.

Main Lake (Carp)
The fish are in mid water and again fishing has been hard because of the up and down conditions weather wise. It has been very cold during early morning and evening and quite warm during the middle of the day. The following carp have been brought to the bank. 15lb mirror, 10lb mirror, 21lbv common, 12lb common, 10lb mirror, 6lb ghostie, 17lb 8oz mirror, 20lb ghostie, 12lb common, 17lb 8oz mirror, 20lb mirror. Peg 65 has been the hottest spot this week and yellow pop up boilies have given the best yield.

Main Lake (Pleasure)
Fishing has been slow this week. Very few high bags have been recorded and most fishermen have said they have had small bags averaging 7 to 10lb. I did have one email from Stan Wild of Bury who said he had a 15lb bag of silvers. Fishing has been better during the middle part of the day when the temperatures have been higher.

Doughnut Lake (Pleasure)
Much better results than the main lake this week with one angler (sorry we cannot read his name on the fishing record) catching a nice 30lb bag of silvers using maggot. Today as I was getting this report from Dawn in the office there was a an angler fishing this lake (Sunday 4th November) who had already caught 10 perch, 8 small bream, 4 larger bream. This angler and we think his name is D. Southwell was fishing peg 109.

Fly Lake
The old fly lake has done well again with some really good sport recorded. B. Buckley caught 9 fish on day ticket. I. Ramsbottom caught 8 trout on a 2 hour ticket. Alex Church caught 8 trout on a 4 hour ticket and A. Brindle caught 11 trout on a 3 hour ticket. Here are the averages for the week.
Monday 1.8
Tuesday 2.7
Wednesday 4.2
Thursday 3.0
Friday 3.4
Saturday 3.6

Montanna, Black and green buzzers and fritz have worked really well.

GENERAL
About this time of the year we always advise our customers about any price changes for the following year. Its a difficult one for us this year because of course we will not owners. We have to carry on the business as if we would be so this is what we would do if we were carrying on. We would keep the prices on the chalets and fly lake the same. On coarse fishing we would raise the overnight charge to £10, but this would not take effect until the 1st April, 2008.

Lastly I have had lots of emails asking if the Harnicks will be doing fishing reports. I spoke to Dave Harnick in the week and he has confirmed that the fishing reports will carry on as usual. Just think folks you will have fishing reports from someone who actually knows about fishing. I have tried my best - but I have always felt I wish I knew more about the subject and have the ability to make the reports more meaningful. I must admit I am going to ask Dave to send the reports to me also - just so I can see how the place is doing and also see how a real angler would report the situation.

Well folks thats all for now. Don't forget we are now selling fishing vouchers in the office - a great idea for Christmas presents.

best wishes
