Fishing report week ending 14th Jan.

Hello folks here is the fishing report for week ending 14th January, 2007.

First of all what a right mix of weather weather we are having at the moment. Still some anglers have had some good results.

Main Lake (pleasure fishing)

Well folks the main lake is starting to fish better some anglers reporting good silver bags of good roach biggest out fell to a chap which was weighted at a good 2lb the skimmers are making a show falling to maggots and maggot feeder. Biggest bag was from Jack (one of our regulars) with a good 35lb bag. The weather has played a big part seeing winds up 50 mph. Main methods for catches are loose feeding pinkies over maggot, caster over hemp and feeder fishing with the maggot feeder. The ground bait feeder is a bit slow but still bream are showing but having to wait for bits. Plenty of chop worm in the feeder seems to get the bits.

Doughnut Lake (pleasure fishing)

This lake is fishing better for silvers with the odd carp and tench showing. There have been some good 40lb and 50lb bags out again. The fishing can be hard if you over do it loose feed on the long pole with an inside line of chop worm and micro pellets with maggot as hook bait.

Main Lake (carp fishing)

Well what a suprise one carp fisherman, called John Lampitt of Accrington, got this weekend. On his first visit, an early morning run got him a nice 15lb mirror and within 10 mins later saw him landing a 35lb unknown common. Both fish were caught on on his home made boilies pictures. The bigger fish was verified by our staff and weighed on our own scales and seen by other carpers. John - if you are reading this, please get in touch, as you get the honour of naming this ´new arrival´. As soon as we can retrieve them from the camera, they will be posted on this website.

Fly Lake

Fly fishing has been a hard one this week the weather has been all over. The winds have played a big part but the anglers that have fished have been catching on white fritze cats whiskers and buzzers on a slow retrieve. Here are the averages for the week.
