fishing report 1st July, 2007
Hello again everyone,
Well another funny week weather wise - lots of rain and lots of sunshine. Its been a right mixture. The weather has been great for fishing results with some cracking catches recorded.
Main Lake (Carp)
Our banks have been full with lots of anglers trying to catch some of our big fish. The biggest landed was a nice 37lb common. If you look back over the last few weeks you will see that there have been some lovely high 30's caught. No one has beaten the 40lb 5oz common so far which was caught in the month of May. Here are just a few of the fish caught last week. 15lb common, 12lb common, 17lb common, 14lb common, 12lb mirror, 27lb common, 24lb common, 13lb mirror, 17lb 10oz common, 24lb 4 oz common, 10lb grassie, 14lb 5oz common, and 36lb 8oz common. Maple 8, and fusion pop ups have worked. The fish have been coming out from all over this week.
Main Lake (Pleasure)
The rain has worked well for our anglers and we have seen some fantastic bags recorded. Alan Swarbrick of Chorley had a great day on Wednesday when he caught a nice 90lb bag of fish. Thanks for the email Alan and so pleased you enjoyed your day. David Taylor also sent me a nice email and told me that he had a great session on Saturday when he caught a nice 110lb bag of silvers. At least 30 anglers have recorded good bags of fish this week averaging 50lb plus.
Doughnut Lake (Pleasure)
We are really pleased to report that this lake is doing really well. I am delighted that a lot of anglers are now starting to take this lake quite seriously and according to the emails I am getting and the feedback our staff give to me this lake is starting to fish really well. I have two anglers who fished the lake on Thursday and said they independently caught bags in excess of 80lb plus. Tony Wainwright who was working in the area managed to catch one of the best bags I have seen in a long time. Kyle (one of our bailiffs) helped weigh Tony's bag and the scales hit over a 100lb bag. Kyle said Tony's catch was made up of some lovely silvers and some great size crucian carp. Paste seems to have done well on this lake.
Fly Lake
Black buzzer, yellow and white fritz and cats whisker have been the most successful flys used. I have been over at the fisheries quite a bit this week and some anglers have caught in excess of 20 fish each. Here are the averages for the week.
Monday 10.5
Tuesday No anglers due to wind and heavy rain
Wednesday 3.3
Thursday 4.2
Friday 2.5
Saturday 7.9
Sunday 1.8
Well folks thats all for now. Hope to see you on our banks.
Cheers
