Fishing report week ending 7th January, 2007
Hello everyone,
Here is the fishing report for last week
Doughnut Lake
This lake is starting to fish really really well with some nice bags of ghost carp and tench showing well. The biggest bag this week goes to Mr. G. Willies with a good 100lb bag. Mr. Willies (and we think his name is George) was fishing maggots, caster and pinkies on pole, and a long line of maggots as hook bait, whilst loose feeding caster. Half way through his session he changed to pinkies. Several anglers have reported good bags and have said that the fishing is really starting to be good up on this lake.
Main Lake (Pleasure)
With the netting programme that took place on the 2nd January 2007 the fishing has slowed things up, but anglers are still catching 20lb bags of silvers which are coming to feeder and pole. The biggest bag was by one of our regulars Bill Holden, who caught a good 30lb bag. Bream are starting to show, but its slow and anglers are having to wait for bites.
We now have a DVD showing the netting operation which took place on the 2.1.2007. You can view this at the office at any time. We have to say, that despite spending 3 days on it and burning DVD, MPEG, AVI and WMV files, we still cannot read any of the discs on our DVD. However, Kyle's lower cost portable DVD reads most of them! Ryan is running further copies off the master so that customers can either purchase the DVD for £5 (to cover costs) or borrow the DVD. Please ring the office for further details. The netting report is also on this web site. www.pendleview.co.uk (under the hot news section). We are delighted with what we found even though we only managed to net under a third of the lake. If the catch represented about one fifth of the contents, as we have been advised then our stocks are excellent.
Main Lake (Carp)
Carp fishing is starting to look better with a couple of better fish showing. The biggest carp so far has been an 18lb, with several low figure carp being out around 9lb. All these fish have been caught on pop ups. Check out this new carp forum www.ukcarpangling.co.uk
Trout Lake
Fly fishing has been quite challenging with bloodworm, Montanna, Zonker and the egg fly being the most successful flys to show. A figure of eight retrieve or bite indicator seems to get the trout. One of our very successful and regular fly anglers emailed this week to say he had blanked for the very first time at Pendle View. Better luck next time Mike. It seems this week we have had fewer numbers, but higher weights. Here are the averages for last week.
Monday 3.5
Tuesday No anglers
Wednesday No anglers
Thursday 0.8
Friday 2.5
Saturday 1.0
Sunday 0.3
IMPORTANT MESSAGE
