fishing report 11th Feb. 2007
Hello everyone,
As you all know this is the first direct fishing report for several weeks. Philip and I have been away on holiday. Winter time is our quietest time "customer wise" and its the only time we can really get away and have a break. I have been answering all my emails via the local internet cafes and posting weekly fishing reports to our web site www.pendleview.co.uk on a weekly basis. We had a great break and the weather was lovely and warm. Now we are back its business as usual. We left our fisheries in very safe hands and Lisa and Ryan and the team have looked after things during our absence. I know that they had some really nasty weather to contend with. As I type this report today the weather looks quite pleasant. Lets hope we are going to have an early spring. In fact, the 10 day forecast does not mention frost - daytime temperatures around 5 - 8 degrees. Light showers on and off, but no nasty rain and just Thursday coming as somewhat windy. Here is the fishing report for last week.
Doughnut Lake (pleasure)
With temperatures dropping so low this lake has been frozen most of the week, but the very brave souls who have fished it have struggled catching fish. Small loose feeding caster or pinkie have been the most successful. A very different picture to the last few weeks when this lake has fished very very well.
Main Lake (pleasure)
We have tried very hard to keep this lake unfrozen. As those who fished it will have seen Ryan (our fisheries superintendent) has placed aerators around the lake to help keep the waters running freely. Temperatures as low as minus 7 have been recorded. Fishing has been difficult with only small bags of silver fish caught. Some bream have shown. Again a big contrast to the previous week's reports when this lake has fished really well.
Main Lake (carp)
Fishing has been really slow. Despite the fact that one or two brave carpers arrived to fish no carp have shown.
Fly Lake
Fly fishing has remained constantly good right through despite the low temperatures and we have had some really good results. I have had several customers email me and say that the advice that our bailiffs are giving is getting better and better. Casting towards the island and letting the flys drift round is proving to be the best method to catch trout. River dance flys, cats whisker and white fritz buzzers seem to be getting the best results at the moment.
The averages are as follows:
Monday 3.0
Tuesday 7.3
Wednesday 4.0
Thursday No anglers
Friday 11
Saturday 2.7
Sunday 6.7
SOME VERY SAD NEWS
All the staff at Pendle View were very sorry to hear that Eric Sayers from Ted Carters in Preston sadly died recently. I knew him personally and he was one of life's gentlemen. He had worked for Ted Carters for a very very long time and was well liked by all his customers and work colleagues. Eric, himself a very keen fly man always took time to explain to anglers and customers what flys and tactics would work best. He often fished Pendle View and it was always a pleasure to speak with him. Eric loved his fishing and the last time I saw him just before going on holiday he was saying how much he was looking forward to this season's fishing. He will be sadly missed. There is a service this Tuesday 13th February at Pleasington Crematorium at 1.00pm for those who wish to attend. Lisa and Ryan our fisheries superintendents knew Eric very well and will be attending the service on behalf of Pendle View Fisheries.
Hope to see you on the banks soon.
best wishes
Lin from Pendle View
